Terminal Controller - Flexible – London Container Terminal
Tilbury, Essex
The Role
The main purpose of the role is to facilitate the safe and efficient operation of the container terminal via the terminals' radio and computer systems.
Your responsibilities will include
Allocate work to carriers using the terminal operating system
Monitor ship operations and process import and export containers
Monitor landside operations and control queues
Monitor equipment allocated to ancillary work areas such as BIP and MT park
Liaise with and plan rail movements
Maintain the terminal operating system to move and update stows and recording of information received in control from equipment operators
Arrange for reefers to be unplugged prior to delivery.
Hours of Work
Your basic hours will be 168 hours per calendar month. You are required to work up to 24 hours overtime in one month.
Shifts consist of one week of earlies, one week of nights and one week of lates.
Shifts will vary from 6 to 12hrs.
Qualifications, experience and skills
GCSE (A-C passes) or equivalent including English
Excellent communication skills including radio communications
IT systems skills including operations or warehousing systems.
Excellent pay as well as generous annual leave entitlement.
